Author Report

For my authour report, I chose the author of my favorite book, Holes. His name is Louis Sachar.

Louis Sachar was born in East Meadow, New York on March 20th, 1954. He lived there until when he was 3rd grade. When he was 9, h moved to Tustin, California. He graduated UC Berkeley in 1976, with a degree in Economics. He also graduated University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1980.

He started to write books when he graduated university, and wrote his first book in 1976. He chose to write book for children.He wrote Holes in 1998, and it won two pize. One is National Book Award for Young People's Literature in 1998, and the other is Newbery Medal, which is the highest honor accorded to children's literature in the US, in 1999. He have written 24 books so far. Now he lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife and a daugter.
